iThe Town of Ungheni is situated on the western border in the central region of Moldova. On the border of the town flows the Prut River, where the border between Moldova and Romania is located. A customs crossing is located in the town near a bridge over the Prut River. The land area of Ungheni is 1643 hectares and the population is recorded at 43 000 people.
Several of the main highways to major cities run through or near Ungheni, including those to Chisinau, Balti and Romania. The network of roads ensures permanent access year-round to communities within the district of Ungheni, as well as other commercial centers in Moldova. All the industrial objects of FEZ and its service subdivisions are connected through highways.

The District Center of Ungheni represents one of the main cultural and economic centers in the northwest of Moldova as well as boasting some of the most impressive prospects in development. Due to the favorable geographic location of the town, Ungheni represents a promising window for initiating and maintaining reciprocally advantageous relationships between Western and Eastern countries. The industrial center of the town has the potential for substantial production, although presently operating at a capacity of only 10-30%
